The Slavic Choral Christmas Concert delivers a glorious variety of traditional carols based on the rich fabric of Central and East European folk and sacred holiday music, ranging from simple folk themes (“pastorals”) to classically-rendered sacred carols. The Slavic Christmas Concert’s electrifying finale features all singers and musicians onstage for the annual favorite:  an audience sing-a-long. Audience members will discover delightful folklore items available for purchase, and can shop for gifts with a glass of complimentary mulled cider or wine in hand.

Featured artists include: the Łowiczanie Polish Carolers, directed by Jola Jankowska, the Ukrainian Bay Area Carolers (Halyna Lorczak, Director), and the Dalmacijo Singers (Croatian) (Rajna Ledoux, Director). All three ensembles have performed annually since the Slavic Christmas Concert’s inception. The Bulgarian Koledari Singers (Tanya Kostova, Director) return for their fourth appearance. The choirs are joined by soloist Dalyte Kodzis, mezzo-soprano, who delivers a dramatic selection of Polish kolędy carols in classical voice. Musicians of Danubius East European Folk Band will provide a selection of carols from Hungary as well as accompaniment for other artists.  The evening’s eclectic two-hour program concludes with the enormously popular audience sing-along that features carols from all the cultural traditions represented by the evening’s artists.

The Slavic Christmas Concert is sponsored by Łowiczanie Polish Folk Ensemble, The
San Francisco–Kraków Sister Cities Association, Polam Federal Credit Union, Honorary Consuls for the Republic of Poland, Christopher Kerosky and Tad Taube, and Taube Philanthropies.
